We provide free, confidential and impartial advice and campaign on big issues affecting people's lives. Our goal is to help everyone find a way forward, whatever problem they face. We are an independent charity and part of the Citizens Advice network across England and Wales. We do NOT offer face to face appointments at our office at the Wesley Memorial Hall. We run drop-in face to face services at the: • Oxford County Library in the Westgate Centre (OX1 1DJ) from 10 am to 1 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays; • Bullingdon Community Centre (OX3 7HU) from 10 am to 12 pm on Thursdays only; • Cutteslowe Community Centre (OX2 7SX) from 1 pm to 3 pm on Wednesdays only; We also offer telephone and email advice from 9-5, Monday-Fridays. Our Adviceline telephone number is 0808 278 7909 or clients can contact us using the form available on our website at: https://www.citizensadviceoxford.org.uk/ Clients who are referred to us via Refernet will be contacted to offer an appointment with one of our trained advisers. Advice can be given by telephone, email or AV link.

Our preference is to talk directly to the person who needs our support, either by phone or by arranging a time for someone to come to our building. We are a service for people who are currently homeless or worried about becoming homeless. We support people to end their homelessness by working to a model of change. This aims to put as many people as possible in a position where they can access housing, financial security, social networks and achieve the best health. Most of the service is offered in our Old Fire Station building but we can also work remotely with people and meet outside of our building as needed. Our service offers 1:1 practical and emotional support with one of our staff team . We also offer a range of workshops and small group work based on art, learning, employment and well being support. Our team can support you with; Money, we can • Help you set up a universal credit claim • Make sure you are on the right amount of benefits. • Help ensure that if you are in work you are getting the maximum income you are entitled to • Make sure you are getting the right support to manage debt • Support you with budgeting, helping you to manage your budget better. Housing, we can • Help you talk to your landlord about any difficulties • Help you understand your rights and responsibilities • Help you look at your housing choices and get the right sort of housing for you • Help you find accommodation Work, we can • Support you to find and keep a job • Help you get the right qualifications to get a better job • Link you into financial grants for further training • Help you prepare for interviews. • Support you to write your CV Health, we can • Link you into a GP and support you to attend the health appointments you need. • Support you with any drug or alcohol addictions • Help you navigate the health system ensuring you get the services you need • Listen and give you practical help with the issues that are causing you to worry

Connection Support Housing Support Service

Clients must be aged over 16yrs, resident in Oxfordshire and have a housing-related support need. For clients who live in Oxfordshire and in danger of losing their home, please contact our Housing Support Team to gain control over finances and housing. The team will support and equip clients with the tools to manage their money, navigate benefits, be independent and avoid homelessness. Our aim is to keep a roof over their head. The service is flexible and tailored to client needs and situation. We support clients to manage difficulties they have that are affecting their home or their ability to live independently by listening to what they want and involving them in decisions. In the past 3 years, 99% of our clients were supported in avoiding eviction! Take a look at our review for more information. Clients will be able to talk to their worker about the kind of support they need and work out a plan which will be reviewed regularly. The kind of support we offer includes: Budgeting and debt Accessing benefits/grants Accessing education/training/ Employment Making your tenancy work Settling into a new home Living independently Accessing community facilities Accessing health care Crisis Support Increasing motivation Linking you into specialist services How Do We Work With Clients? Our workers will support the client to work out what help they need and enable them to achieve independence and a better quality of life. Fast Track approach for urgent referrals and those at risk of homelessness, immediate same day response with early intervention work Support offered for up to 6 months through limited home visits and access points Support tailored to individual need Telephone service for people up to 12 weeks if low support needs Post closure contact with check-in at either 4, 6 or 8 weeks 3-month post-closure check Duty service available after closure for one-off pieces of work or advice

Barton Advice Centre In 1987 The Barton Advice Centre (BAC) was set up after it became clear that an advice centre was needed to serve the community. The advice centre drop in service is open to all residents living in the OX3 area of Oxford City. We can advise on debt, benefits, housing, family matters and community care. We may refer you to more appropriate services if needed. As well as our benefits specialists we also have a specialist debt worker who is able to assist with Debt Relief Orders. Advice can be given on our telephone advice line to all Oxford City residents.

We are an independent, community advice centre, based in Blackbird Leys. If you live in Blackbird Leys or surrounding areas in OX4, our friendly team of advisers can help you find solutions to the problems you face.
